Re-injecting colour into the world around himself with ‘The Lost Boys EP’, Shakka has created a concept record of seven tracks, and accompanying interludes, that tell the story of a man breaking free from the monotonies of daily life.
‘The Lost Boys EP’ transports the listener to a dystopian future where dreams, colour, and women are non-existent. The remaining men are controlled by a daily serum and left to an endless cycle of mind-numbing factory work, all the while living in fear of an omnipresent governmental force ‘LIONOAK’ that presides over what remains of London’s bleak metropolis.
With a mix of deeply soulful and expressly uplifting tracks, ‘The Lost Boys EP’ opens with Shakka’s instantly recognisable flow and clever lyric patterns which dance effortlessly over the intros’ ethereal build up.
Moving on to glide from up-tempo bangers like stand out hit ‘Say Nada’ to the deeply smooth vibes of ‘Read My Mind’, Shakka reaffirms his reputation as an artist capable of producing a broad range of tracks while keeping his musical integrity fully intact.
With elements of a futuristic graphic novel, the intricate narrative of this record completely engages the listener, taking them on a freeing, sonic journey that ends with the bass heavy rolling beat of ‘The Jungle’.
