There’s no doubt about it, Asics has the crep game on lock right now. Thanks to a slew of high-profile collaborations on their retro gems such as the Gel Lyte III and the Kayano, the brand has firmly placed themselves as contenders in the sneaker lifestyle arena.
However, the brand’s newer models haven’t crossed over as well as their older counterparts and it appears that Asics are looking to change this with the Quantum 360.
Now I know it might be hard to believe with the current selection of colourways on offer, but I believe at its core it would be hard to deny that this runner has a lot of potential in the lifestyle sector.
First off, due to its 360 degree Gel Cushioning, the Quantum 360 offers a level of comfort that in my opinion rivals Adidas’s revered boost tech although though this runner is considerably heavier than say an UltraBoost. Upon wearing a pair the comfort of the inner sole and form hugging FluidFit upper are the first things you’ll notice. The heel to toe cushioning is plush and uber comfy and the uppers offer an equal amount of comfort. Which is no surprise as runners are Asics speciality and this model has ranked highly amongst recreational runners
Now as for the lifestyle aspect. The style of the 360 is clean and simple, with intricate details found throughout the upper that are dope on their own right. However, it has usually been the colour choice and execution of their chameleon uppers that detract from what would otherwise be a more revered release amongst sneakerheads. The exception to this has to be the red, black and orange iteration of the model, which in my humble opinion is their strongest drop of the 360 at present.
Given time and the right collaborations on this release and the Quantum 360 could be the next big model from the brand going forward. Need proof of this just look at what Nike are doing with the Air Max 360, which is probably this model’s closest rival. Just remember where you heard it first.
